The A-List Trickles In

At 6:22 p.m., Jennifer Lopez -- hair up, and wearing a nude dress with an open neckline -- arrived with hubby Marc Anthony (in a traditional, Cary Grant-style tux). They followed a long list of other star arrivals: Will & Jada, Brooke Shields, Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy, and more ...

Wedding Fashion: Brooke's Stunning Dress, Posh's Hat Attack

• Brooke Shields (who just arrived at the castle) drew audible gasps from hotel guests at the Hassler Saturday with a stunning burgundy velvet dress from Oscar de la Renta. (See the photo here.) When asked by reporters whether it was difficult to think of a wedding gift for Tom & Katie, she said: "This one was easy. It was very clear what to get them." Sadly, she didn't elaborate on what that perfect present might be.

• Guests sitting behind Victoria Beckham, beware: She's wearing a huge black hat.

We Have Bride, We Have Groom

Following on the heels of Katie and Suri's arrival at Odescalchi castle two hours prior (they're pictured here peering out the window of the castle), Tom Cruise pulled up just before 4 p.m. He was seen giving a wave, and the bells of the castle sounded on the hour.

Meanwhile, PEOPLE's Galina Espinoza tells us: "They just started lighting candles at the top of the castle, all the way around. It's still bright out (the rain has moved on) but it's already beautiful -- it will be stunning once it gets dark!"

Tom Cruise Leaves Rome For Wedding

Guests are starting to leave Rome's Hotel Hassler en masse for the festivities at Bracciano's Odescalchi Castle.

With rain starting to fall, Tom Cruise was driven out of the hotel garage around 3 p.m. The van was escorted on the 18-mile journey north to Bracciano. Holmes was driven to the castle earlier in a blacked out van -- and her father was later spotted dashing into the Hassler with a worried look on his face.

After taking a walk down the Spanish Steps, and prior to dressing for the event, Brooke Shields was asked what she wished for the happy couple today. "Just happiness and peace and that they can remember all of this," she told reporters.

A fleet of cars and vans ferried the attendees 18 miles north of Rome to the rain-dampened castle, but mystery still surrounds whether it will only be a Scientology wedding, or whether it will also include a civil ceremony. The mayor of Bracciano had earlier denied being involved in marrying the couple.

Wedding Forecast: Rain with Scattered Crowds

It briefly began pouring in Bracciano this afternoon, sending everyone in the town square -- where the media are stationed -- running for shelter.

So far today, the security has been tight: There are police checkpoints on the way in -- no one without a parking pass can drive beyond a certain point, and there are helicopters circling around Odescalchi Castle. In addition to the police, members of the civil disaster team (Nucleo Protezione Civile) have parked trucks here. Because the town has never experienced anything like this, they've tried to prepare for every emergency.

Live from Bracciano: Students Ditch School for Tom & Katie

It's 7:30 a.m. in Bracciano and Emanuele Rossi, 14, has skipped class with a group of fellow students to come stake out his spot in front of the Odescalchi castle, where Tom and Katie's wedding party are expected to drive up in a convoy of limousines later today.

"We're hoping to get a glimpse of Tom and Katie and their guests," says Rossi, "but so far we only see a lot of journalists." Schools in Italy remain open half a day on Saturdays, but the square outside the castle was rapidly filling up with high school students early in the morning. " Our teachers don't mind," says Emanuele. "They'll probably take the day off as well."

Suri: A Good Dinner Companion

The raves continue to pour in for Tom & Katie's 7-month-old baby. A guest at one of their dinners this week tells PEOPLE: "Suri was just the best baby. There must have been 150 guests there, and she was just so well-behaved, pointing at things and looking around."
